Prometheus

The Tale of the Firebringer

Looking back at the history of Helia, it is safe to say that the majority of adventurers only make their living off low stakes and easy gambits. However, legendary individuals do arise. Prometheus, a party of one, made his name known throughout the land as he claimed the title of Firebringer. Originally a fire genasi born to an enslaved mother and master efreet, he became a primordial after many years of trial with his father’s side. In the Prime Material Plane, Prometheus was revered as an incredibly talented and respected sorcerer who specialized in pyromancy. However, in the Elemental Plane of Fire, he was seen as nothing short of a worthless child of a slave.

He was free himself, but constantly wished to let his mother join him. Bound to the elemental plane, there was nothing her nor her son could do about her enslavement, not unless her efreeti masters were dealt with. Prometheus tried many times to defeat his father and his allies, but could do nothing as an army of one. His control over fire was superior to those in the Prime Material Plane, but paled in comparison to the pure blazing elemental genies. In order to topple his fathers reign over the plane of fire, he would need to enhance his flames somehow.

Then somehow, one day Prometheus would burst the Elemental Plane of Fire with a newfound strength. His flames easily overpowered the efreeti, stirring them into a chaotic tornado of madness. The ensuing anarchy of burning cinders swallowed his fathers fire, and overpowered him. His father, and many other efreet burned in Prometheus’ new flame, but the genasi would quickly see his strength could not be controlled. When his firestorm reached the enslaved mortals, he was powerless to stop it. Prometheus would cry out to Cynefrid, begging her to take his fire from him if it would mean saving his mother.

The goddess accepted this arrangement, as even she was not comfortable with a mortal having this much power. Therefore, she took the majority of his flame and divided it into millions of fragments, which would be dispersed among all mortals born and unborn. As for Prometheus, Cynefrid would personally promote him to the status of primordial, as his quest for commanding fire was not one of greed or tyranny. He would eventually rekindle his flame, albeit much weaker than the chaos he wrought many ages ago.
