False Hydra

False hydras are aberrations that have the ability to alter memories through song. While they are singing, all creatures in a large radius fail to consciously perceive it in any way. Strong willed creatures may resist the song, causing their subconscious to try and reach out to warn themselves.

False hydras start off as a glass egg, eventually hatching as it feeds off lies and secrets. Once it hatches, it uses its song to erase any trace of itself while slowly kidnapping individuals for consumption. It requires frequent consumption, and will die quickly without food. They do not eat anything other than living sentient mortals.

While eating, a false hydra must stop singing, meaning it must create some kind of lair for itself to hide in. After consuming a creature, all memories of them will be replaced with the most convenient way to "erase" that person. This process is only done via memory, and does not alter any physical remnants of an individual. As the creature consumes more, it gains more heads, along with its strength and range of its song.

As the false hydra gains more heads, it will become more and more unstable, and likely reverts into an egg to reset this process. This process has never been directly observed, however. A false hydra can be defeated if its core egg is shattered. Doing so will release all memories of the people it has consumed.
