Fugue Plane
The Fugue Plane is an empty misty wasteland with almost no distinguishing features. It has extremely few natural-born creatures within. Unlike many other planes, the Fugue Plane cannot be traveled to physically via the Astral Sea. It is layered above all other planes and can only be accessed through death, or a spell like plane shift.
Once mortal souls pass on, they are sent to the Fugue Plane to wander for up to thirty days. Within 30 days, they will experience one of the following fates:
-
The soul has worshipped a specific deity sufficiently, and is taken by their servants to the deity's plane immediately. (any alignment depending on worshipped deity)
-
The soul has not worshipped any deity, and has lived a relatively neutral life. They are taken by a celestial or devil to either Limbo or Purgatory, where they will be judged. (lawful neutral, true neutral, chaotic neutral)
-
The soul has not worshipped any deity, but has lived a life of goodwill. They are taken by a celestial to Purgatory. (lawful good, neutral good, chaotic good)
-
The soul has not worshipped any deity, but has lived a life of evil. They are taken by a devil to Limbo. (lawful evil, neutral evil)
-
The soul has committed to a life of chaos, and is naturally drawn into the Abyss. Extremely chaotic evil souls can cause a rupture in the plane, allowing demons to enter and steal innocent souls momentarily. (chaotic neutral, chaotic evil, rarely neural evil and chaotic good)
-
The soul is intercepted by a devil, and accepts a contract into the Nine Hells. (any alignment)
-
The soul wanders for 30 days, never found by a devil or celestial. They are usually considered “lost souls” and become undead in the Prime Material Plane. This process is handled by Mortuus.
