Lucifer
Greater Deity
Ages upon ages ago, the Archangel Lucifer was known among his kin as the most powerful among them. He was so well respected in his strength that he was given the authority to reside in Stars, the penultimate layer of the nine heavens. During his time there it is said that he would gain a great deal of respect from the lesser deities that shared the layer with him. As an archangel, Lucifer was easily the pinnacle of his kind. However, at some point his status as a celestial would be sundered by his own kind.
The truth behind Lucifer's fall is a topic that many religious scholars disagree upon frequently. Those who know the full truth are beings that do not directly communicate with mortals, therefore many adventurers go searching for answers. What is known is that the former archangel led a rebellion against the greater deities in the Primum Mobile, resulting in the deaths of many celestials. Eventually, Lucifer and his constituents were banished into Gehenna, a lesser plane of evil that would soon become the Nine Hells.
Upon being ejected from the Heavens, each fallen celestial would physically strike Gehenna with a level of force equal to their strength. Some of these fallen angels would fall with such destruction that they would destroy entire groups of devils in the process. Two of the modern archdevils, Mammon and Beelzebub are examples of some of the strongest fallen angels that accompanied Lucifer during their banishment. The final celestial to fall into Gehenna was Lucifer himself. The impact alone destroyed the entirety of the first layer, all of its inhabitants included. He would then plummet to the very bottom of the plane where he would rule the nine layers above as a greater deity.
