Tiamat

Maldiric Pantheon

The mother of all chromatic dragons, Tiamat is a name that strikes fear in the hearts of many mortals. She resides in the Heresy layer of the Nine Hells, a location which she was banished to by the archangels of the Nine Heavens. She defies the usual order of the Hells, as her chaotic evil nature goes against the lawful systems within the plane. Despite this, she chooses to abide by their rules, as even a lesser goddess of her strength cannot defy the entirety of Lucifer’s order.

Serving under Tiamat are two groups for two different planes. Alongside her in the Hells are the Abishai, a draconic race of devils native to the plane and manifested naturally in the same sense ancient dragonborn manifested from dragons. The Abishai are lawful evil, and it is frequently debated if they are her servants, or her jailers. In the Prime Material Plane the children of Tiamat roam, with this being all chromatic dragons. They are a remnant of her former life, and have kept their mother’s chaotic, greedy, and evil nature. There is no need to describe how much death and destruction these creatures can bring.

Like most evil deities, those who worship her are few and far between. Most of her power is sourced from mortals rebuking her name or praying for mercy when a chromatic dragon has been spotted in the area. The only true followers of Tiamat are descendants of select ancient dragonborn or cultists of Maldir. In that regard, it should be noted that despite being in the Nine Hells, she serves under the Maldiric pantheon due to her chaotic nature. The reason for her sealing in the Nine Hells rather than the Abyss was to ensure that the two could not cooperate in spreading chaos together.
