The Eclipse
“We used to say that stars were the gods watching over us. Now, an age has passed since I have seen the night sky. Sometimes I wonder if those stars left us by choice.”
The Eclipse was a calamity so monumental, that the entire world calendar revolves around it. It spelled the end of the Dawn Era, the beginning of the Eternal Day, and the start of year 0, NS (New Sun). Following shortly after the sealing of Xeralux and the purge of Penitence, half of the Prime Material Plane would watch in horror as the moon would be swallowed by the sun, never to be seen again. The other half would feel an agonizing dread as that night never came.
The next five days would be nothing short of complete and utter chaos. Most of the world would plunge into anarchy, with cities collapsing, societies going into lockdown, and thousands dying due to the lawlessness. The majority of Grodora’s remaining civilizations would fall, with the population halving in only a week. Krole would lose major footing in the war, as Luxon would use their maintained order to take Fort Keld, a stronghold that survived even Xeralux’s light. Khuvel experienced a complete and total government overhaul, with corporations being seized right under the noses of those running them. The only nation to maintain a resemblance of a foothold would be Uroda, but only by deciding to completely isolate themselves from the rest of the plane.
In just one week, the entire structure of Helia would be flipped. Zelios, one of the Five Great Ones, would disappear from his place in the Primum Mobile. Maldir would surge with power within the Abyss. Cynefrid would give complete authority over the Elemental Planes to the lesser gods and primordials within her pantheon. Most importantly for the mortals within the Prime Material Plane, King Aelwin of Luxon would disappear. His two sons, Aloc and Aldred would suddenly be crowned twin kings, and they would make their power known through a fierce military advance towards Krole.
Soon after the five day period of the Eclipse and moving into the period known as the Eternal Day, people would soon realize that the lack of night was only the beginning of the terror. Those expecting children would be stricken with grief as their unborn would pass away. At the same time, elderly would cease to die of old age, despite their consequences. In a few months time, the situation would become clear. All those within Helia had become immortal from aging, but the creation of new life would cease to exist. With this realization, chaos would erupt again, a four-year time known as the Second Strife.
