Tieflings are a race not native to the Prime Material Plane. They develop in one of two ways: either through descent from fiends that had bred with humans, or through a mortal returning to the material plane after extended exposure in the Nine Hells or the Abyss. Tieflings are divided into two subraces based on which of the two planes their blood originates from.

• Infernal Tieflings: Originating from the Nine Hells, this devilish bunch has a knack for cunning, allure, and deception. They make excellent political adversaries, but only if you aren't a target for betrayal. Infernal tieflings are viewed by devils as being a true connection to the Nine Hells, but disregard them in their hierarchy. Usually, they are disconnected by choice, and will still face scrutiny if they wish to align themselves with devils.

• Abyssal Tieflings: As descendants of the Abyss, these tieflings are brimming with chaos. They are rebellious, unpredictable, and free spirited. Abyssal tieflings are usually completely cut off from their origin plane, as the demons within see them as impure. They struggle to acclimate into societies, often forming bonds with small groups or remaining alone. Despite their origin, many abyssal tieflings reject their chaotic evil nature, usually aiming to be better than their destructive ancestors.
