In the land of Helia, sea elves are a race that have derived directly from the sea goddesses Baronysis and Hura. They were created during the Elemental Wars to serve the two in order to protect the seas. Today, their purpose remains the same, but with the warring long over, sea elves are permitted to find other futures. Because of their divine origins, sea elves that are faithful to their goddesses receive protections and blessings in exchange for servitude and worship. Most sea elf colonies will focus on these tasks and discourage dissent. If a sea elf chooses to leave their duties and pursue a life deemed unworthy, they will lose the grace of their goddesses. This struggle usually causes a lot of internal struggle with dissenting sea elves, as colonies are clearly a force of good when it comes to protecting the oceans and their fellow inhabitants. Sea elves are usually respected by most races, except for pure elves. They are typically disrespected by high elves out of jealousy, as they claim that sea elves have had everything handed to them by their goddesses and don't understand the struggles their ancestors had to face. Surprisingly, eladrin welcome and embrace sea elves, as they appreciate their traditional and strict society.
