Watcher's Law
Being a warden of planar travel, the user of this curse is able to manipulate the state of those not in their home plane. They also gain a new understanding of the planes, granting them bonuses on ability checks and potentially allowing them to travel between planes.
Details:
- The user is able to cast Banishment at the cost of a first level spell spell slot. It cannot be casted with any spell slot of a higher level, but does not receive any drawbacks with being downcasted.
- Creatures that are from another plane of existence than the one the caster is currently in have disadvantage on their saving throw against the banishment.
- The user of this curse has advantage on all Intelligence checks related to the planes of existence.
- You instantly know when a creature or item belongs to a different plane of existence other than the one you are currently in. You may make an Intelligence (Arcana) check to determine which specific plane it is from.
- As an action, you have the ability to access a 5x5x10 foot pocket dimension. You may only have up to half of your body submerged into this pocket dimension at any time. When reaching inside, a glowing purple portal appears at the point where you reach. If you submerge half of your body, you gain half cover.
Limitations:
- The Banishment spell granted by this ability cannot be upcasted.
- Each time this ability is activated, the user gains one madness die from the DM, which is 1d4. When they receive a new die, they roll it, keeping it on a 1-3, and giving it back to the DM on a 4. When the user has three madness dice, they must roll all three at once, and make an additional roll on the short term madness table. The outcome of the 3d4 is halved and rounded down, with that being the number of rounds that the madness effects last. Once the effects wear off, the user returns to 2 madness dice.
- Madness effects can be relieved immediately with the casting of Lesser Restoration, Calm Emotions, or a similar spell/potion/magic item that can restore the target’s mind. Using one of these methods also removes any acquired madness dice.__
- Madness dice are removed after a long or short rest.
Increased Lifespan. You cannot die of old age.
