Drow are a subrace of elves that evolved due to direct exposure to the Void. After the high and wood elves left the Feywild, a third group split off to settle in the Underdark. In these caves, the elves came to connect with a deity known as the Void, and began to worship it. As time went on, people began to fear the unfathomableness of the deity. In response, the god/plane hand picked around 100 of its elven worshipers to be able to enter the plane and understand it fully. These individuals would become the drow known as Nightwalkers. They eventually would reproduce in order to pass on the trait of understanding the Void, but due to persecution and being hunted, a majority of them were wiped out. Today, drow are so scarce to the point where the Void is almost a completely forgotten deity. Most remaining drow have lost their way, feeling as if their god abandoned them.
