The longest lived of the races, elves hail from the Feywild and are intrinsically magical creatures. They all have a direct connection with the constant of Magic, allowing them to naturally manipulate it. While originating from the Feywild, a large number of elves live in the Prime Material Plane due to a schism ages ago. Feywild elves are aligned with the natural chaotic wild magic within, and believe that one's magical ability is something that one is born with and cannot be changed. One day, these Feywild elves were able to harness the wild magic into portals to the Prime Material Plane. Elves that disagreed with the conservative views left through these portals and began their own civilizations. These are known as Prime elves. Both groups see themselves as superior to another, especially high elves. They warred for many years, bringing the population to a staggeringly low number. In modern times, the effects of this schism can be seen in the low population and birth rate of the elves. However, their extremely long lifespans and narcissism causes them to look past this growing issue.

High Elves: Prime Material Plane natives. These elves hold history and religion in a very high regard and are descendants of the first elves to leave the Feywild. High elves prefer to have large roles in society and integrate with others if it benefits them. They practice and study magic as wizards, bards, and clerics do. High elves are extremely pretentious, believing themselves to not only be superior to Feywild elves, but all races.
Wood Elves: Prime Material Plane natives. Wood elves are opposite to high elves, as they favor spirituality and other nonstandard means of living. They reject large societies and prefer to live in their own circles. They practice and study magic as druids, warlocks, and monks do. They are accepting of other races, but dislike the Feywild elves just as much as high elves do. Their independent lifestyle can cause them to be socially disconnected and develop unusual cultures and lifestyles.
Eladrin: Natural born Feywild elves. Extremely strict and conservative with how magic should be wielded. In their eyes, everyone has a place in society based on their magical ability from birth. Leaders of eladrin society are not meant to uphold their own personal rule of law, but the order of magic that has been kept for millennia. They do not approve of integration with any other planes of existence, and actively call for the eradication of any prime elves. Eladrin are gifted with magic in ways similar to sorcerers, druids, and paladins. An eladrin outside of the Feywild has a lot of explaining to do.
